We Are McVander Hockey!

  • Founded in Kirkland, Washington, McVander Hockey began with a simple idea: play Ball Hockey after school with our kids and share the sport we love with our community.

  • What started small quickly grew as families, schools, and local partners embraced our play‑based approach to teaching the fundamentals.

  • Today, our K-5 Enrichment Programs can be found all over the eastside, and we offer a full lineup of Ball Hockey Classes and Summer Camps across Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, and Redmond for ages 3-12.

  • Through all our programs, our mission stays the same — build skills, boost confidence, and create a fun, supportive environment where every child can discover the joy of hockey.

  • And we love getting up every morning to play hockey with the kids. They are awesome and hilarious. It is so fun watching them improve their skills and develop a love for the great game of hockey.

  • Please reach out if you have any questions.

Meet Our Team:

Coach Brandon.

COACH BRANDON

Coach. Co-founder.

Hi, I’m Coach Brandon and I’m super excited to introduce your kiddos to this wonderful game!

I’ve fell in love with the game of hockey in 1975, when I was four years old and my parents put me into ice skating lessons.

Since then, I’ve been involved in the game as a player, official, referee association Board Member, mentor, evaluator, scheduler, founder and co-director of a referee development camp, and I even owned a small chain of ice hockey pro shops in Washington.

My most memorable hockey moments:

  • Being selected to attend the 1989 USA Hockey Western Regional Officiating Camp at the US Olympic Training Center in Marquette, Michigan.

  • Refereeing the semi-final game at the 1991 College Club National Tournament in Tucson, Arizona.

  • Working as a linesman in a rookie game between the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings in 1991.

  • Working as a linesman for one of the last pre-Olympic IIHF games between Team USA and Team Canada in 1991.

  • And of course, meeting my wife playing hockey!

It is my goal to provide your child with a super-fun experience while they learn about and play the great game of hockey.

COACH NATE

COACH. co-founder.

Hi, I'm Coach Nate and am thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome your children to the amazing world of hockey!

I've been passionate about hockey since 1989. I was 8 years old when my neighbors in Connecticut first introduced me to hockey in our shared pond that froze over in winter. This sparked a lifelong love for the game, and I've been playing ever since.

I've played every position in hockey, even goalie! I’ve also coached ice hockey, refereed, was an equipment manager and score keeper, as well as unofficial hockey shop employee for Coach Brandon. I'm really looking forward to adding the role of after school ball hockey coach to my list of roles.

Following the same theme as Brandon, some of my favorite hockey experiences and moments include:

  • Introducing my fiancé (now wife!) to hockey and helping teach her to ice skate and play defense.

  • Going to my first NHL game in Vancouver in 1997 and seeing Pavel Bure score a hat trick vs the LA Kings.

  • Traveling to the 2010 Olympic games in Vancouver and attending the USA vs Switzerland, and the Canada vs Russia games.

  • Watching the first Kraken home game with my two daughters at their very first NHL game.

  • My goal is to provide your child with an unforgettable and enjoyable experience learning about and playing hockey!

I’m Coach Jeryn, and I can’t wait to play hockey with your kiddo!

When the idea came up to start a business that combined hockey and working with kids, I jumped at the opportunity.

During the school year, I am a sociology major at San Diego State University. I’ve spent four years working at our local athletic club; in the Kids Club, as a summer youth camp counselor, and at the front desk welcoming clients.  I’ve also spent 3-years volunteering as a Program Aide at the Kirkland Girl Scout Rainbow Adventure Day Camp, and three years working as a Team Manager for the Juanita High School varsity soccer team.

COACH KONAN

COACH.

Hi, I’m Coach Konan and I’m excited to be part of your child’s summer hockey experience!

I am a junior at Juanita High School, where I’m part of the varsity baseball team and a proud member of the National Honor Society. I’ve always loved sports and staying active, especially baseball, and I enjoy working with kids and helping them learn new skills.

I’ve volunteered at MEOW Cat Shelter, and I’ve worked as a baseball umpire for years, so I know how to create a fun and respectful environment for younger kids.

I’m eager to bring my energy, athletic experience, and positive attitude to the ‘rink’, and I’m really looking forward to helping your kids have a blast while they learn the game!
